No Tie For Daddy: Creative Father’s Day Gifts

A Trooper in the air
Creative Father's Day Gifts

I bought the card.

I shopped online.

And still I think he’d be happy with a box of Little Debbie Nutty Bars after all is said and done. And yes, one year, that was his gift. And he loved it.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, I realize many of us want something different, something left-field, something beyond cologne, neckties, and renewals to Golf Digest.

Whilst shopping around online, I stumbled across some creative Father’s Day gifts that might help you shave a few minutes off your search.

Or just give you a laugh.

Grenades

The Kikkerland CD06 Grenade Screwdriver Set. Yes, it’s a complete screwdriver set housed in a grenade. A grenade folks. Because nothings says “I love you, Dad” like tools inside a grenade.

Star Wars

Star Wars I Am Your Father’s Day 2-Pack exclusive. Nuff said.

Nose Picking

A favorite of mine: cups that, when you drink, let a faux nose shine through. It’s like potty humor without the potty.

Budget Keeper

Because he taught you so much about how to budget your money, he’ll appreciate any gift you can buy for less than $25 bucks.

Breakfast Lover

Ron Swanson Father's Day Gift

Dad’s love breakfast and love to make breakfast. Although my Dad doesn’t watch Parks & Recreation, I know he’d appreciate Ron Swanson’s love of bacon, eggs and all things manly.

(Note to Dad: I have the card… and, as you can see, I’m working on a the gift. I didn’t want to do the cologne thing because I think you’re still using the stuff I got you ten years ago. But hopefully the Nutty Bars are gone by now. If not toss ’em out. You may have more coming your way.)

  1. Loved the gift ideas for your Dad. Nutty bars NEVER stay around for more than a couple of days. Time with you is the BEST gift-always and ever.

  2. In 2nd grade, we made crafts out of clay that were kiln-fired. Mine was a Father’s Day gift, being practical even at age 7. It was a turtle with an upside down shell that was an ashtray.

Disturbing on multiple levels, but definitely original.

    1. That’s all Papa wants: original… and maybe a upside-down turtle shell ashtray 😉
