Passion for Your Creativity, Day 1

Dear Me,

I’m writing you a few letters you can read to yourself.

So remember when you’re reading these letters you titled “Passion for Your Creativity, Day     ?    ,” that you wrote them.

These are from yourself, to yourself. Because you want you to be the artist, the creative, the innovator you are.

***

[box options]You’ve always wanted something. You’ve always had passion. You’ve always had drive, desire, tenacity. You’ve thought big and acted even bigger. You had passion for your creativity… at one time.[/box]

But now you’re impatient. You’re sluggish with nothing to do and you’re so busy doing… nothing.

What does that TV show amount to night after night?

“I just need a treat.” You say.

“I just need to relax and unwind.” You sound like you’re making an excuse.

Why not say “I don’t feel like I have anything to offer to anyone and my life is lived fulfilling other people’s dreams, so I’d just rather sit here and enjoy this entertainment.”

Fine. It’s OK. Nothing wrong with an hour or so of it.

But what happens when…

  • An hour turns to two hours.
  • Two hours turns to three.
  • Time for bed.
  • Get up.
  • Work.
  • Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse, repe–
  • Turn 80.

How did I let this happen?

How in $#!@ did my life slip by hour after hour until I had no desire? Until I had no passion for creativity?

How did I let it just slip by?

Because you starting believing this:

These notes from yourself are the only ones you’ll trust. You only listen to you, so there it is–black and white.

It doesn’t matter when you wrote that note. All that matters is that you believe what is on that note and that it’s your note.

You wrote that. You wrote it with your life choices and you believe it’s true.

And sometimes you just need to see what you believe in front of your face. You need to read that note. Hear that note. Eat that note. And after you do all those things… throw it in the garbage.

Because it’s not true.

You wrote it with your life and you’ve written dozens more. Luckily your life swept them up and dropped them here in this volume.

But you never stopped to look until right now. Until you read what your life wrote… or is writing.

And that’s the awesome thing about the written word.

It’s here and you can see it and you can’t deny it and it’s powerful. It’s powerful.

This is not depressing.

You’re glad you’re telling yourself what you’ve only felt for so long. But if you’ve felt it, why didn’t you do anything about it?

Remember G. I. Joe?

Remember his little slogan thing? “Knowing is half the battle.” Yeah. So now you know. You’ve got it in black and white and, as you said to yourself earlier, it’s powerful to know it. You can’t deny it anymore.

Remember who you are…

  • You are an artist.
  • You are a creative.
  • You battle demons that try to keep you from expressing joy, abundance, light, and feeling.
  • You have this battle because passion for your creativity is life changing for yourself.

And life changing for others.

What you tell yourself and write to yourself isn’t always true.

So what it true?

You don’t have a crappy life. You have a wonderful life.

Share it.

Now that you’re telling yourself the truth, move onto day 2 by clicking here.

    1. I’m glad to hear you say ‘beautiful’ Jason because…

      1. I respect your opinion.
      2. I thought it was a bit edgy. Maybe it still is and that’s probably good, but it can be edgy AND beautiful right?!!?

      Thanks for dropping by!

  1. Well said. The power of words continually breaks my head open. Here’s a quote for you-

“Fall in love and stay in love. Write only what you love, and love what
you write. The key word is love. You have to get up in the morning and
write something you love, something to live for.” Ray Bradbury

    1. Speaking of love…. I love that quote Michael!

That’s rich and so good. Thanks for sharing that.

  2. Our internal dialogue is so powerful. I’ve noticed that whatever I mull over, whether it’s having a good life, being angry, being sad, being joyous – it starts to overflow into my actions and my words.

    1. Yes! It’s amazing how things can change if we’ll speak to ourselves differently!

Thanks so much for stopping by Loren and thanks for adding your thoughts to this post!

  3. This reminds me of a shirt I saw from a rock band (geared towards Christianity in a negative light, no doubt), but it works here despite it’s intent. It said: “beLIEve”

The best quote ever by Zig Ziglar says “If you think you can, or you think you can’t….you’re right.”

Has anyone ever quoted from Marilyn Manson and Zig Ziglar in the same comment before? That might be a first!

  4. Right between the eyes dude…ouch. Okay, SO. I’m gonna go now and adjust my attitude…then I’m gonna focus on how to use my creativity to change the world…and then I’m gonna go do it. 🙂 To be continued… Permission to copy paste – make a poster to hang on my wall when I need a swift kick in the pants?
