7 Reasons to Love Jim Henson

With the release of The Muppets movie, I’m misty-eyed over Jim Henson and all he brought us. Even now, you’ve probably got songs, scenes, and silly images running through your mind just at the mention of the Henson name.

Creative legacy. A few things his work inspired…

1. Explore fearlessly.  Pigs in prime time. Pigs in love with frogs. 

2. Say ‘what if’ and see what happens. At the time The Dark Crystal was made, it was hailed as the only live action film in which a human actor makes no appearance. 

3. Go against the grain. He had a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. 

4. Don’t be 100% serious. Swedish Chef. Bunsen and Beaker. Pigs in Space.

5. Don’t be 100% funny. “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” 

6. Let other shine. Here’s a list of all the amazing guest hosts. And yes, Alice Cooper is on that list. Seriously.

  1. Nice post. Jim Henson was a visionary with a sense of humor and seemingly a really nice guy. I am glad his legacy lives on.

  2. I love that he brought so much joy and creativity into a world that sometimes seems to lack just that. And that his work continues to be enjoyed by so many today is amazing, IMO. 🙂

  6. Lol…so Jamie said when he was little he thought his dad WAS Jim Henson! It was before he could read I guess and just heard the name 🙂

    1. That’s so cute! His dad must’ve done some great character voices to garner that kind of praise.
