What’s on Your Milestone

How do we know we’re moving if we don’t have milestones?

Every now and then, it’s fun (or challenging) to see where our creative life is going.

Ten minutes of reflection, strolling through some photos or just a ‘year in review’ with my wife will often reveal where we’re at and where we want to be.

Here’s a few recent milestones in pictures…

The Good: our ‘made out of a tomato tree stand’ Christmas Tree. Creative. Saved money on a real one. Looks interesting.

The Not so Good: it’s still up. We call it ‘winter decor.’

Christmas Tomato Tree

The Good: four year anniversary! I love her more each day. She’s fun, beautiful, creative, adventurous and loves good food.

The Not So Good: nothing. Zero. Zilch. There’s no one I’d rather share life with than Sarah.

Sarah and Andrew

The Good: directed my first commercial yesterday. Day two of shooting today.

The Not So Good: a bit sleepy, but it’s so rewarding to see it all come together. We can sleep later. Hopefully.

Directing a Commercial

The Good: my Honda Fit broke 100,000 miles yesterday. It’s been an amazing car. No issues at all.

The Not So Good: if I grew an extra two feet, I probably wouldn’t fit so well in the Fit. But that’s not likely to happen.

The Good: did my first podcast interview with Jason Mundok at The Candy Factory in Lancaster, PA. I’ll be guest posting on Jason’s site on Monday! Very fun.

The Not So Good: I don’t always like the sound of my voice on recordings. But I’ll get over it. Hope you can too and let me know what you think of the podcast!

  1. I just hit the 50 post mark at my creative blog and my guitar blog in the last couple weeks.

    The Good:
It feels pretty good to look back and say wow, I’ve done this 50 times.
The Bad: I get impatient and want immediate success/validation from others. But at least I realize it-and try to refocus my attitude quickly.

  2. Very cool milestones man. Love your home made Christmas tree is still up, this is something my wife and I would have done.

Good:I would say I’m really enjoying writing and posting on my blog. It’s great to see the community grow and connect more.

The not so good: It’s sometimes very hard to stay consistent and disciplined in writing and posting.

Good: My wife and I have almost been married for 5 years and have a new baby boy!!!

The not so good: This season has been the hardest time we have ever gone through with the complications with my son.

  3. Hey, you and your “ideaing” are fun. Can’t wait to see/hear what you and Jason have worked up. What a great connection!

  4. Yowza. “Retired” from 31 years of pastoral ministry last year.

The good: WAY more time with my wife!

The not-so-good: Actually, it’s still pretty good!

The good: Started my own business doing something I love: editing and proofreading

    The not-so-good: Starting from scratch.
